Triton Racing (FSAE)

Aerodynamics Team Member (Feb 2023 – Jul 2023)

As part of the Triton Racing aerodynamics team, I contributed to the development of the team’s first full-car aerodynamic package, focusing on lightweight composite design and aerodynamic efficiency.

My role included design, simulation, prototyping, and integration of aero components, ensuring the package maximized downforce while minimizing weight and maintained durability during high-speed testing.

Full-Car Aerodynamic Package Design

I designed the team’s first full-car aero package using SolidWorks for structural modeling and Ansys Fluent for aerodynamic simulations. By combining carbon fiber with a foam core, we achieved a lightweight yet stiff design that optimized airflow and downforce across the vehicle.

The package design considered composite manufacturing constraints, minimizing material usage while maintaining structural integrity under track loads and aerodynamic pressures.

Additionally, I developed rapid-detachment mechanisms using FEA in Ansys Mechanical, incorporating breakaway mounts and quick-release fasteners calibrated to prevent secondary structural damage during failure scenarios.

Testing & Integration

Triton Racing 2023 Team

I collaborated with mechanical, electrical, and vehicle dynamics teams to integrate the aero package onto the car chassis. Testing included high speed wind validation and on-track performance assessments.

This cross-disciplinary effort ensured that the aero package met aerodynamic targets while remaining safe, easily maintainable, and compatible with the overall vehicle systems.
